PJSC NK Rosneft builds its relations with interested parties and public authorities in the regions of presence based on the principle of business’ social responsibility.

The Company adheres to a systematic approach to solving social issues and managing social investments, contributing to the reduction of social risks, ensuring long-term fruitful relations with the regions of presence and strengthening the image of a socially responsible Company.

Through its activities, PJSC NK Rosneft makes a significant contribution to the development of regions of presence. The projects being implemented by the Group's Companies invigorate local enterprises, the social sphere, personnel, infrastructure, as well as contribute to an increase in the investment attractiveness of the regions.

One of the goals of the Company's regional policy is to create favorable conditions for the Company's business in the regions of presence, which contribute to attracting highly skilled manpower. In this regard, the Company attaches great importance to the development of modern, livable infrastructure of cities and towns, the high quality of medical care, development of sports, education, and culture.

Social development issues are of special importance for the territories located far from big cities, and often within harsh climatic environment. In addition to the significant amount of funds allocated by the Company for social development, according to the results of 2017, PJSC NK Rosneft retained the status of the largest taxpayer in the Russian Federation.

Unified principles and approaches to the interaction of the Company with state authorities and management, as well as with stakeholders in the regions of presence are formalized in the Policy for Regional Development and Interaction with the Entities of the Russian Federation.

 

Participation in the Global Compact

 

PJSC NK Rosneft is a member of the UN Global Compact (hereinafter - the GC), which is centered around the voluntary obligation of organizations to adhere to a number of principles; they are based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Declaration of Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work of the International Labor Organization, and the Declaration on Environment and Development.

Starting from 2007, the Company has been disclosing sustainability reports on a voluntary basis, which contains information and indicators of environmental and social responsibility. This reporting demonstrates the Company's adherence to the principles of the GC  implemented in its activities. Since 2012, the requirement to publish environmental indicators has become mandatory for companies with state participation [1]. PJSC NK Rosneft continued to disclose  sustainability information annually.

The UN Global Compact is a UN initiative, created at the suggestion of UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan in 2000, which is aimed at promoting social responsibility of businesses and providing reports on the implementation of such activities. The UN GC declares ten principles of socially responsible investment in the field of human rights, labor relations, environmental protection, and combating corruption, while maintaining sustained business profitability. The UN DG is the world's largest initiative of corporate social responsibility. As of the beginning of 2018, more than 9,700 companies and organizations from over 160 countries joined the Global Compact. PJSC NK Rosneft has been a member of the GC since 2010.
